Our desire to constantly learn more about our craft leads us to connections with extremely talented individuals. Evidence of this, is our personal relationship with the designer featured in our second episode of the We Are The Details series.
In this profile piece, we highlight the fashion-design project YAYI, founded and created by YazmÍn “Yayi” Pérez. We learn about Yayi’s approach to designing quality pieces and her passion for implementing conscious techniques. Additionally, we gain insight into her creative process and her work with other local Puerto Rican artists and cottage industries. As a designer, Yayi seamlessly weaves elements of her Puerto Rican heritage within her garments. Meanwhile, her vast experiences, which include studies at the Polimoda Firenze and Politecnico di Milano in Italy as well as the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, allows for the communication of a skillful and unique perspective.
